About CtrlTMS

CtrlTMS keeps a Microsoft Teams estate and an M-Files vault describing each other.

Discovery and creation

Discovery finds teams that already exist in the tenant and creates an M-Files object for each. It runs on a schedule, so a team created in Teams by hand appears in the vault without anyone registering it.

Creation works the other way: an object in the vault, in the right workflow state, becomes a new team with the channels and members the object names.

Teams and channels share one object type and are told apart by class. That is worth knowing before you look at the configuration, because it explains why the settings for both sit together.

Members and owners

CtrlTMS synchronises the members and owners of a team to the corresponding M-Files object, and back. Where a vault has employee objects and user groups, a group can be named on the object and its members expanded into the team, so membership is maintained in one place.

What it does not do

• It does not archive or delete teams. The archived and deleted states are read from Microsoft and recorded on the object. Setting them in the vault does not push the other way.
• It does not move documents. That is CtrlSync.
• It does not create the folder structure inside a team. That is PDS.
