About CtrlTime
A time entry in CtrlTime is an M-Files object like any other. It has a date, a duration, a person, and a relationship to whatever the time was spent on — a project, a customer, a case.
Because it is an ordinary object, everything M-Files already does applies to it: permissions, workflows, views, and reporting. There is no separate store to reconcile.
Where the interface comes from
Section titled “Where the interface comes from”The week portal, the calendar dashboard and the reporting dashboard are CtrlPortals dashboards, configured for time registration. That means two things worth knowing:
- CtrlPortals has to be installed and working first.
- Anything you can do to a CtrlPortals dashboard you can do to these. If the standard week portal does not fit how a customer books time, it can be changed rather than worked around.
What it does not do
Section titled “What it does not do”- It is not a payroll system. It records time against objects; what happens to that afterwards is for whatever you export it into.
- It does not approve time by itself. Approval is an M-Files workflow, configured the way any other approval in the vault is.
