CtrlTeams

CtrlTeams is not an application. It is three of them — CtrlSync, CtrlTMS and PDS — licensed as one and configured to work together, so that a team in Microsoft 365 and the record of its work in M-Files stay the same thing.

Each of the three is documented on its own, and each runs on its own. This section covers only what is true when they are deployed together: the order to install them in, the vault properties they have to agree on, and the path an object takes from one application to the next.

What each application contributes

CtrlSync is the one that cannot be left out. CtrlTMS is what gets a team into the vault in the first place, and PDS is what puts a consistent set of folders and documents into it. A deployment with CtrlSync and only one of the other two is supported and reasonably common.

CtrlTMS, not CtrlTeams

CtrlTMS is the application that manages teams and channels. CtrlTeams is the name of all three sold together. The distinction matters when reading a configuration reference: the settings live in CtrlTMS.

Licensing

CtrlTeams is a single licence bundle. Buying it licenses all three applications; there is no separate purchase for CtrlSync, CtrlTMS or PDS. Each application still validates its own licence file at startup, so all three have to be installed with one.
