Plot Colourway
The palette that plot series are coloured from, in both the 'Plot' and 'Plot View' widgets (and in a Multi View's colour-by-value chips). 'Default' leaves Plotly's own palette in place.

The exact colors to use, in order. A plot with more series than colors cycles back to the first. Avoid very pale colors — the plot background is white.
Plot Color Assignment
How each series or category is given a color from the colorway. 'By name' gives a value the same color every time a plot is drawn, and the same color in any plot showing the same values. 'By position' is the older behaviour, where the color follows the series' position in the plot and therefore changes when the data does. Default: ByName.
By position (legacy)— Plotly's own behaviour: the colour follows the series' position in the figure.By name— The colour follows the series/category NAME, so it is stable across refreshes and plots.Only the color rules (everything else grey)— Only the values named in the rules are coloured; every other value is drawn grey.
